From the Visit Gulfport web site: ”We’ve been called funky, eclectic, artsy, charming, progressive, welcoming, warm, and, yes, even weird. We are a small town, but we have a big heart. It’s easy to make yourself at home here. Visit us and we think you’ll agree.”
Gulfport is a city in the Tampa Bay area adjacent to Saint Petersburg that comprises 2.8 square miles of land. Categorized by some as a sleepy beach town, the downtown area has an art gallery, a small theater, and a casino ballroom. It hosts recurring special events such as fresh market Tuesdays, swing dance Wednesdays, Tangerine market Saturdays, and, of course, our own Beach Bums Volleyball Tournaments.
If you are coming in from out of town, the hotel in Gulfport is the Historic Peninsula Inn, but other hotels can be found on nearby St. Petersburg Beach.
